PictoplasMa 2013

Cherry - We Are Live // AARGH vs. Monkey

DEUTSCHE VERSION HIER!

Pictoplasma is the world's leading festival for contemporary character design. As part of the Pictoplasma Character Walk 2013, neurotitan presents two exhibitions: Berlin based artists AARGH and Monkey and Studio Killers from the UK.

Cherry (FI): We Are Live

Cherry long

We Are Live - the acclaimed band Studio Killers is ready to take over the world. Singer Cherry is the show here and she will 'realize' herself before your very eyes. Watch her prepare for the audience, manifesting herself in the world's consciousness through portraits that draw on her love of fashion and general lip-gloss drippin' mayhem.

AARGH vs MONKEY

Berlin artists AARGH and MONKEY, one stemming from music videos, the other from street art, teamed up in 2011 to found PRINTSHOP UNION, a laboratory for their collaborative paintings, videos, fluorescent lettering, sculptures and slot machines. For this exhibition they have set up a silkscreen print workshop that embraces pop culture to the full.

MONKEY vs AARGH

MONKEY is a natural born artist. His art was developed on the street, as member of the Berlin Graffiti crew CBS, amongst other influences. After years of unpaid night shift, he is now devoting himself primarily to silkscreen technique. His works, combinations of text and image, are richly detailed. If a typeface is not available from the standard fonts, he creates his own. MONKEY lives and works in Berlin.

MONKEY

Born in Düren, AARGH was drawn to West-Berlin at a young age. In the turbulent Berlin 90s he was noticed by the avantgarde music group "Lychee Lassi" and collaborated with them on music videos. His performances provoked interest from the film and music industries. After gruelling years in front of the camera, he turned his back on that world and returned to private life. He began training as a zookeeper and rediscovered his passion for art. AARGH lives and works in Berlin.
