exploring visuals
By Chaim Gebber
Exploring Visuals is a multimedia contemporary dance theater installation directed by Chaim Gebber. Exploring Visuals kicks off the first week of the Neurotitan Gallery’s first dance festival held in the Haus Schwarzenberg Mitte. In brief, the installation explores the modern commercial manipulation of the public from its origins in the 1920s to the present. Exploring Visuals premiers on 17th of January along with a collection of visual art themed upon these commercial ideas curated by Chaim Gebber-Open Scene and culminates with three more evenings of performance directed by Chaim Gebber from 20th-23rd of January.
With morning dance training and a selection of workshops planned for the daytime, people can partake in an array of artistic events. The evening show will collect aspects seen throughout the week and put them back together. Beneath the show exists a bedrock of history found in the lives of the Freud family and the influence they had upon society all over the world. Edward Bernays, Freud’s nephew, founded the public relations industry and it is this work which Exploring Visuals proceeds to unpack. We have chosen to focus upon the ‘visual’ aspect of advertisement, what can be seen with the naked eye, e.g. logos and commercials on billboards, television, clothing etc. Chaim Gebber-Open Scene performs with the mediums of contemporary dance, physical theater, video projections, and audience interactive games.
Join us for an artistic retelling of the advertisements and products subliminally deposited into the minds of you and I!!
