Astro y Fe ist eine Gruppenausstellung und Solidaritätsinitiative, entstanden als Reaktion auf die Erdbeben, die Venezuela im Juni 2026 trafen. Sie bringt Künstler*innen aus Venezuela und der Diaspora zusammen und versammelt Kunstwerke, Informationen und Netzwerke der Unterstützung. Der Titel beginnt mit einer einfachen Operation: catástrofe zerfällt in zwei Wörter – astro und fe. Sterne und Glaube, Orientierung und Vertrauen, fortwährend übersetzt. Aus der Katastrophe entstehen zwei mögliche Koordinaten in erschütterten Gebieten.

Venezuela trifft diese Katastrophe nach Jahren politischer, wirtschaftlicher und humanitärer Krisen, institutionellen Verfalls und massiver Vertreibung. Innerhalb und außerhalb seiner Grenzen rückte das Land immer wieder durch Krisen, Wahlen und Machtübernahmen in den Blick – jedes Bild wird durch seine Zirkulation in verschiedenen Sphären zur Chiffre, zum Zeichen seines eigenen Erscheinens und eines permanenten Ausnahmezustands. Doch diese Zirkulation hat nicht zwangsläufig Wissen, Nähe oder tiefere Beziehungen hervorgebracht. Venezuela wurde immer wieder zur Projektionsfläche konkurrierender politischer und ideologischer Narrative, während ein großer Teil der gelebten Realität des Landes nach wie vor schwer greifbar bleibt.

Von Berlin aus fungiert Astro y Fe als temporärer Satellit: ein entfernter Punkt, der Informationen empfängt und weiterleitet, Menschen und Initiativen verbindet und Aufmerksamkeit sowie Ressourcen bündelt. Begleitend zur Ausstellung entsteht eine fortlaufende Kartierung von Hilfsinitiativen. Sie verbindet basisnahe Projekte, lokale Organisationen und größere Institutionen in Venezuela und zeichnet Formen von Fürsorge, Lebensmittelversorgung, Unterbringung, medizinischer Hilfe, gegenseitiger Unterstützung, Reparatur und Wiederaufbau nach – in der Hoffnung, Beziehungen aufzubauen, die über die Notsituation hinaus Bestand haben.

Fe bezeichnet hier weniger ein Versprechen oder religiösen Glauben als ein Vertrauen in Beziehungen: in jene, die reagieren, sich organisieren, Sorge tragen und Rechenschaft über das Empfangene ablegen. Die Ausstellung gewinnt eine zweite Dynamik, wenn neue Arbeiten aus Venezuela in Berlin eintreffen und durch die Begegnung verschiedener Communities im Neurotitan neue Konstellationen entstehen.

Am 12. und 13. September wird die Ausstellung zudem zum Ort einer solidarischen Spendenaktion, organisiert mit Art Worker Solidarity und Unterstützung der Berliner Kunstszene. Von lokalen und teilnehmenden Künstler*innen gespendete Arbeiten sammeln Gelder für Organisationen und unabhängige Initiativen, die direkt in Venezuela tätig sind – von unmittelbarer Nothilfe und gemeinschaftlicher Sorge bis zum längerfristigen Wiederaufbau.

Unser großer Dank gilt Neurotitan, Art Worker Solidarity, allen teilnehmenden Künstler*innen, Mitwirkenden und Initiativen sowie allen, die geholfen haben, diese Konstellationen über Entfernungen hinweg in Bewegung zu setzen.

Astro y Fe is a collective exhibition and solidarity initiative developed in response to the earthquakes that struck Venezuela in June 2026. Bringing together artists living in Venezuela and across its diaspora, the exhibition gathers artworks, information, and networks of support.

The title begins with a simple operation: catástrofe breaks into two words—astro and fe. Stars and faith, orientation and trust, continuously translated. From catastrophe, two possible coordinates emerge across shaken territories.

Venezuela arrives at this disaster after years of political, economic and humanitarian emergency, institutional deterioration, and severe displacement. Within and beyond its borders, the country has repeatedly come into view through moments of crisis, elections, power grabs—each image becoming a cipher through its circulation across different spheres, a sign of its own emergence and emergency. Yet these circulations have not necessarily produced knowledge, proximity, or deeper relations. Venezuela has repeatedly become a spectacle onto which competing political and ideological narratives are projected while much of its lived reality remains, as ever, difficult to apprehend.

From Berlin, Astro y Fe operates as a temporary satellite: a point at a distance that receives and retransmits information, connects people and initiatives, and channels attention and resources. Alongside the exhibition, an evolving mapping of relief initiatives brings together grassroots projects, community organizations and larger institutions working across Venezuela, tracing different forms of care work, nourishment, shelter, medical assistance, mutual aid, repair and reconstruction, with the hope of establishing relationships that can endure beyond the emergency.

Here, fe is less a promise or a matter of religious belief than a form of trust placed in relations: in those who respond, organize, care and account for what is received.

The exhibition will gather a second momentum as new works arrive from Venezuela to Berlin, and new constellations emerge through communities meeting and unfolding at Neurotitan.

On 12 and 13 September, the exhibition will also become the site of a solidarity fundraiser organized with Art Worker Solidarity and the support of Berlin's artistic community. Works donated by local and participating artists will raise funds for organizations and independent initiatives working directly in Venezuela, across different scales of emergency assistance, community care and longer-term recovery.
