León Ferrari Foundation
Estampida and Taller Humano are projects from the Fundación Augusto y León Ferrari
where the central concept is to create an exchange between art, work and environment and promote awareness and appreciation. The intention is to create an open space (workshop) that allows a new platform for work, production, movement and creation.
In this space, the primary consideration is human individuality, its expression in the world it inhabits and the connection between people. In the realisation of concrete projects, body, society and planet are understood to be a single entity.
The Fundación Augusto y León Ferrari Arte y Acervo (Augusto and León Art and Archive Foundation) was foundedin 2008 by the family of the two artists, father and son. It is committed to the promotion and support of all forms of artistic expression and is based on the egalitarian principles of integration, freedom, free speech and the defense of human rights for which both artists stood. In addition to the dissemination of the work of these and other artists, the foundation aims to promote art as a democratic practice with projects such as Estampida and Taller Humano, amongst others. Subsequently, art is considered a fundamental and natural human right through generation of a completely free creative context, as practiced by León.

The foundation's work is based on the impact and influence that the artistic work of Augusto and León Ferrari had on raising awareness of important ethical issues.
Moreover, its intention is to establish an independent environment for the management, communication and presentation of this work, evolving its own projects in the process.
The foundation organizes the documentary archive along with a collection of works and objects. It participates in artistic research and exchange, working with other organizations in a network from the fields of law, politics, design, ecology, recycling and education.
In 2018, the Taller Ferrari, León's Atelier was opened to the public and holds a permanent exhibition of the works of León and his father Augusto. It also hosts the art collection and library of Alicia and León Ferrari. |
