Objects

Part of Ferrari's extensive and versatile oeuvre is a great number of objects that have been composed from figures of saints and plastic toys. As in his world famous work La civilización occidental y cristiana (Western Civilisation and Christianity, 1965), which shows Jesus on the cross of a US American war plane hanging upside down, Ferrari takes a critical stance towards the Christian church. It's also true for the objects in Ferrari's oeuvre that they can and shall be reproduced. It's apparent from the works on display in the exhibition that the point isn't a faithful copy of his works, but rather of his ideas. Thus we see, for example, three versions of Jesus in a meat grinder – the differentiation between original, copy and reproduction has lost in relevance here.
